Who could have predicted that your being fat would actually land you a scholarship? Such is also the case with scholarships that are granted to tall individuals, left-handed people, twins, vegetarians, and many more. Read through this list of the strangest scholarships that you would ever encounter:
• The SAMMY Award or the Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award is a scholarship that’s given to 25 high school seniors. The requirements include a GPA of at least 3.20 and being active in club or school sports. $7500 is awarded to each winner and he would also get a free trip to Disney World. And, of course, you get a spot on the prestigious Milk Mustache ad.
• Are you, by any chance, a descendant of Lambert and Annetje Van Valkenburg? No? Then you wouldn’t be eligible for the Van Valkenburg Memorial Scholarship.
• The Potato Industry Scholarship is given to a student who would like to pursue a course in Agribusiness. The National Potato Council gives this $5000 scholarship to a worthy student each year.
• Is welding your thing? Then you can be eligible for the American Welding Society Scholarship. Getting this type of scholarship would guarantee a good education in brazing, soldering, thermal spraying, and joining.
• If you’re not blessed with a good height, and stand only 4’10”, then you can apply to The Billy Barty Foundation which awards scholarships to individuals who suffer from dwarfism.
• If you’re good at predicting the financial market, then you can win the Excellence in Predicting the Future Award (a $400 award for born economists).
• If you excel in games that involve common knowledge, then you might just bag any of the $250-$3000 scholarships called Common Knowledge Challenges.
• If you’re a female student and don’t have a car of your own, then you can apply for the Alice Mcarver Ratchford Scholarship. This is given to single females who live on campus and who haven’t been approved for any other scholarships.
• If you’re good at writing essays, then you might want to try to apply for the $1000 scholarship called School Bank and Orchestra Magazine Scholarship.

The duct tape scholarship. This is given to people who can actually create artistic designs of clothes that are—yes—made out of duct tape! Imagine being eligible for a grant all because you wore duct tape on your high school prom!
Starfleet Academy $500 scholarships. Star Trek fans have an edge over those who aren’t so fond of the film since they know a lot about the film’s trivia. This academy actually educates people on Star Trek details.
Kor Memorial Scholarship by The Klingon Language Institute. Again, Star Trek fans, this one’s for you! Klingons are those huge, furry beings from the movie. They actually have a language called the Klingon language (fluency isn’t required, but sufficient creativity is encouraged).
Student Scholarship for Tall Clubs International. If you’re a female that stands 5’10” tall, then this scholarship is for you. If you’re a male who’s 6’2” tall, you’re also eligible.
The American Nudist Research Library Scholarship. This is offered to all aspiring nudists out there!
The American Fire Sprinkler Association Scholarship. An essay is given to the applicants for reading. Every correct answer is considered one entry to the draw that would be held for this scholarship.
The Chick and Sophie Major Memorial Duck Calling Contest Scholarship.
Do you know how to call ducks? Then you can go to Stuttgart, Arkansas and register for this scholarship!
The Society of Vacuum Coaters’ Foundation Scholarship. This scholarship is given to students who would like to study vacuum coating which is the mechanical way of applying coatings on certain material lengths (whatever that is).
